2008 - 2009 FIRST SESSION CLASSES

AAEN's first session of classes for 2008-2009 will begin September 30, 2008. There will be ten weeks of classes: Sept 30, Oct 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov 11, 18, Dec 2, 9, 16. Here is the Schedule and Class Descriptions. Registration will be held on Tuesday, September 23, from 1-4, at Roswell Area Park during our regular parkay.

PAYING FOR CLASSES:

Each teacher is an independent agent, so please bring multiple checks to registration to pay each teacher, for each class, individually, as well as the room rental fee (see below).
It is the policy of AAEN that all financial obligations from previous class sessions must be paid in full before a family can register for a new session.

ROOM RENTAL FEES:

The room rental fee structure for the 2008-2009 homeschool year will be different than in the recent past. Rather than having a fixed-price contract with our host and adjusting fees each session based on projected enrollment to cover that cost, we will collect and pass on to our host facility one room-use fee *per year* from each family taking classes through AAEN. For most families this will result in a significant savings in room use expenses over the course of the year.

RULES AND CONCERNS:

  1. WE ARE NOT A DROP-OFF SERVICE! Every child must be supervised by an adult at all times. If you must leave church property during classes, ask another adult to take responsibility for your child(ren) during your absence, and make sure your child(ren) know who this responsible adult is.

  2. There is a playground behind the building which the church has given us permission to use. It is, however, play at your own risk. Neither UUMAN nor AAEN will be held responsible in case of any injuries.

  3. There are offices in the church open and working while we are there. Please do not disturb them. Also, please respect the Sanctuary and do not enter without permission.

  4. We must respect any and all church materials and equipment by not writing on chalkboards or using markers or papers. Any rooms that are neither classrooms nor parent room nor official study rooms are off-limits.

  5. We are allowed to use the microwave and sink in the church kitchen. Please wipe up any spills. We do not have UUMAN's permission to use any other kitchen appliances, utensils or supplies.

  6. Leave the parking spaces closest to the door for the teachers. They have materials to bring in and need those spaces.

  7. WE ARE OUR OWN CLEANUP CREW. Our rent does not include the church providing janitorial services. This includes the grounds outside as well as the parking lot. Every family cleans up after its own members. Teachers clean up thier rooms after each class (involving thier students if desired). We take turns emptying trash, sweeping the halls and entryways, and tidying the bathrooms and kitchen. Please look for the sign-up board to help do your part.
